They arrived on time. The installation was carried out in the time they said without any problems or hidden costs. Overall a first class job. I would recommend ecoEV for anyone requiring an ev charge point installation.

Fantastic installation by Paul, it wasn’t the most straightforward install but they cracked on and got it sorted with no fuss whatsoever! Excellent service and a high quality install to be proud of!

How much is a home charger for an electric car?

The Government pulled the plug on the household OZEV grant in March 2022, diverting resources to the rental market for landlords. Landlords can now get £350 off EV charger installation per socket.

Domestic customers must pay the full price, which ranges from £899 to £1,299 on average per socket.

Installation costs are usually fixed, so the biggest determiner of the price is the hardware. You can pay as little as £399 for an EV charger, while some EV chargers  cost more than £1,000.

You should budget £1,000 to £1,300 for a charger like the Hypervolt Home 3.0, Zappi v2.1, or Indra Smart PRO.

EV Charger Installation Cost Breakdown

Charge point

Charge points are sold as self-contained units. Some come with a cable while others sell the cable separately. The charge point makes up approximately 70% of the cost of installation.

Parts

We use metres of cable to connect the charge point to the RCD unit. We also need several parts for the RCD, such as a miniature circuit breaker (MCB). Parts make up approximately 15% of the cost.

Labour

Labour includes all the time it takes to complete your EV charger project. It accounts for approximately 15% of the cost of installation, billed as a fixed price as part of our installation service.

Optional extras

You may want a longer cable, solar integration and other features that increase the cost of installation. Our quotes include these specified extras, which could add 25% to the cost of installation.
